About Afrimart
Q1.What is Afrimart?
Afrimart is an online marketplace that connects verified sellers, brands, artisans and manufacturers both from Africa and around the world with buyers globally.
On Afrimart, you can discover and buy authentic products across categories such as fashion, beauty, home décor, food, art and electronics — all from one platform.
Q2.Does Afrimart sell the products on the platform, or are they from independent sellers?
Afrimart is the marketplace, not the seller. Independent sellers list and sell their own products on Afrimart.
Unless a product is expressly identified as being sold directly by Afrimart, the seller remains responsible for the product's description, quality, availability and fulfilment.
Q3.Are Afrimart sellers verified?
Yes. Afrimart reviews and authenticates sellers before they're permitted to trade on the platform.
As part of this process, sellers may be required to complete identity, business and product-verification procedures.
Q4.Are the products sold on Afrimart authentic?
Afrimart requires every seller to list only authentic, legally obtained and accurately described products. Counterfeit, fraudulent, prohibited or materially misrepresented products are not permitted.
If you suspect a product is counterfeit, please report it immediately so Afrimart can investigate.
Shopping & Orders
Q5.I found something I want to buy. How do I place an order on Afrimart?
- Browse the marketplace and select the product you want.
- Choose the relevant size, colour, quantity or other variation.
- Add it to your bag and proceed to checkout.
- Provide accurate delivery information and complete payment using an available payment method.
Q6.Do I need an Afrimart account to shop?
You can browse products without signing in. However, creating an Afrimart account makes it easier to place and track orders, save products, manage your delivery information and submit return or refund requests.
Q7.Can I buy from more than one Afrimart seller in the same order?
Yes. You can add products from different sellers to your bag in a single checkout.
Because these products may come from different locations, they may be packaged and delivered separately — with different delivery charges or timelines for each seller.
Q8.How do I know if a product is still available?
Product availability is shown on the product page. An item can become unavailable if it sells out before you complete payment.
Your order is only confirmed once payment has gone through successfully and the order has been confirmed.
Q9.Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?
Request a change or cancellation as soon as possible. An order can only be changed or cancelled if the seller has not yet processed or dispatched it.
Once an order has been dispatched, it becomes subject to Afrimart's Return and Refund Policy instead.
Q10.Can I ask an Afrimart seller questions about a product before I buy it?
Where this feature is available, you can use Afrimart's in-platform communication channel to ask a seller about a product.
For your protection, keep all transaction-related communication and payments on Afrimart rather than moving them off-platform.
Q11.Can I negotiate a product's price with a seller?
The displayed price is generally the applicable selling price. Any discount, promotion or negotiated offer must still be processed through Afrimart.
Never make a payment directly to a seller outside Afrimart's checkout — off-platform payments are not covered by Afrimart's protections.
Payments & Escrow
Q12.What payment methods can I use on Afrimart?
The payment methods available to you are shown at checkout. They may vary depending on your country, currency, transaction value and payment provider.
Q13.I've paid for my order. When does the seller actually receive my money?
Not immediately — Afrimart uses escrow protection. Your payment is securely held after you place an order, and the seller is notified to process and dispatch the product.
Payment is only released to the seller once delivery is confirmed, or after the applicable confirmation period expires — whichever happens first.
Q14.Is it safe to enter my payment details on Afrimart?
Afrimart works with third-party payment processors and escrow mechanisms to help keep transactions secure.
Always complete payments through Afrimart's authorised checkout system, and never disclose your password, PIN or one-time password to a seller or anyone else.
Q15.I was charged, but my order isn't showing on Afrimart. What should I do?
- Check your order history and email for a confirmation message.
- If the order still isn't showing after a reasonable period, contact Afrimart Support with your payment reference, transaction date and amount.
- Don't make a second payment until the first transaction has been reviewed.
Delivery & Tracking
Q16.Where does Afrimart deliver?
Afrimart supports both local and international delivery to numerous destinations worldwide.
Delivery availability for a specific order depends on the seller's location, the product category, courier coverage and any applicable import or export restrictions.
Q17.How much will I pay to have my Afrimart order delivered?
Delivery charges are calculated based on factors such as the seller's location, your delivery destination, the product's weight and dimensions, the delivery method chosen, and the number of separate shipments in your order.
The applicable delivery fee is always displayed at checkout before you complete payment.
Q18.How long will my Afrimart order take to arrive?
An estimated delivery time is shown during checkout or once your order is confirmed.
Actual delivery times can vary due to product-processing periods, the seller's location, courier operations, customs clearance, public holidays or other circumstances beyond Afrimart's control.
Q19.How do I track my Afrimart order?
Sign in to your Afrimart account and open the relevant order under your order history. Select the tracking option to view the latest delivery status and available courier information.
Q20.Will I have to pay customs duties or import taxes?
International orders may attract customs duties, import taxes, VAT or other government charges.
Unless stated otherwise at checkout, these charges are ordinarily the buyer's responsibility and may be collected by the courier or the relevant authority on delivery.
Q21.I entered the wrong delivery address. What can I do?
Contact Afrimart Support immediately. Afrimart cannot guarantee that an address can still be changed once an order has been processed or dispatched.
Where a parcel needs to be redirected or resent, additional delivery charges may apply.
Q22.My order hasn't arrived and the expected delivery date has passed. What should I do?
Check your tracking information for the latest update. If the expected delivery period has passed with no satisfactory update, contact Afrimart Support with your order number.
Afrimart may liaise with the seller and courier on your behalf to investigate.
Q23.My order is marked "delivered" but I haven't received it. What should I do?
- Check with household members, reception, security personnel or anyone else who may have accepted the parcel on your behalf.
- If you still can't locate it, report the issue immediately through the platform, providing your order and tracking information.
Returns, Refunds & Exchanges
Q24.When can I request a return, replacement or refund?
You can generally request a remedy where:
- The product is defective or damaged;
- The wrong product, size, colour, model or quantity was delivered;
- The product is materially different from its description or images;
- The order is incomplete or has missing parts;
- The product is reasonably suspected to be counterfeit or misrepresented; or
- The seller is responsible for another material error affecting the order.
Q25.How quickly do I need to report a problem after delivery?
Inspect your order as soon as it's delivered. Eligible issues must generally be reported through Afrimart's return or refund channel within 24 hours of the recorded delivery time.
This 24-hour window doesn't limit any mandatory consumer right you may have under applicable law.
Q26.What evidence do I need to provide for a return or refund request?
Your request should include:
- Your order number;
- A clear description of the problem;
- Photographs or videos of the product and packaging;
- Proof or confirmation of delivery; and
- Any other information reasonably requested during the review.
Keep the product, accessories and original packaging until the matter is resolved.
Q27.How do I actually start a return on Afrimart?
Submit a return or refund request through your Afrimart account. If it's approved, Afrimart will send you instructions for courier collection, drop-off or return delivery.
Don't return or dispose of the product on your own before you've received approval and instructions — this can affect your request.
Q28.I changed my mind after buying an item. Can I return it?
Change-of-mind returns are not automatically guaranteed. Whether one is accepted depends on the seller's published terms, the product category, the product's condition and applicable law.
If a change-of-mind return is approved, you may be responsible for the return shipping cost and any previously disclosed handling charge.
Q29.Which products can't be returned for a change of mind?
Subject to applicable consumer-protection laws, the following types of products may not qualify for a change-of-mind return:
- Personalised or made-to-order products;
- Perishable goods;
- Opened or used hygiene-sensitive products;
- Intimate apparel with a broken hygiene seal;
- Accessed or redeemed digital products;
- Fully performed services;
- Products marked "Final Sale" or "Non-Returnable"; and
- Products that cannot lawfully or practically be returned.
A defective, damaged, incorrect or materially misrepresented product may still qualify for a remedy, even from this list.
Q30.If I return an item, who pays for the return delivery?
It depends on why you're returning it. Where the return is because of a seller's error, a defective or damaged product, incorrect delivery, or material non-conformity, the seller ordinarily bears the reasonable return cost.
For an approved change-of-mind return, the buyer ordinarily bears the return cost.
Q31.How will I get my refund, and how long will it take?
Approved refunds are ordinarily processed back to your original payment method. Where that isn't possible, Afrimart may arrange another approved refund method or platform credit, subject to applicable law and any required consent from you.
Afrimart begins processing an approved refund within the period communicated to you during the return workflow. How long it then takes to actually appear in your account depends on your bank, card issuer or payment provider.
Q32.Can I get an exchange or replacement instead of a refund?
Depending on availability and the circumstances of your request, Afrimart or the seller may offer a replacement, exchange, repair, partial refund or full refund.
If your preferred option isn't available, the next most appropriate remedy may be offered instead.
Selling on Afrimart
Q33.Who can sell on Afrimart?
African artisans, brands, retailers, manufacturers and other eligible merchants can apply to sell authentic, legally obtained products on Afrimart.
Both handmade and manufactured African goods are welcome, subject to marketplace standards.
Q34.How do I become an Afrimart seller?
Visit the "Sell on Afrimart" page and complete the seller application. Afrimart will review your information and, if approved, invite you to complete identity verification, create your store and upload your products.
Q35.How long does seller approval take?
Most seller applications are reviewed within three to five business days. More time may be needed where Afrimart requires additional information or verification from you.
Q36.Are there fees to sell on Afrimart?
Afrimart currently charges no setup fee or monthly subscription to create a seller account and list products.
A 2.5% escrow fee applies to each completed transaction, subject to Afrimart's current Seller Terms.
Q37.When will the money from my sale become available to me?
Funds are generally released to your Afrimart wallet within 24 hours after the buyer confirms delivery.
Where the buyer doesn't confirm delivery or raise a dispute, funds may be automatically released after 14 days, subject to the applicable transaction and escrow rules.
Q38.What am I responsible for as an Afrimart seller?
As a seller, you must:
- Provide accurate product descriptions, photographs and specifications;
- Disclose relevant defects or limitations;
- Maintain accurate prices and stock information;
- Package and dispatch orders within the required period;
- Sell only authentic, lawful and safe products;
- Comply with applicable product, labelling, tax and consumer laws; and
- Cooperate with return, refund and dispute investigations.
Q39.What happens if I list a prohibited or counterfeit product?
Sellers must not list counterfeit, stolen, illegal, unsafe or otherwise prohibited products.
Where a product or seller violates marketplace rules or applicable law, Afrimart may remove the listing, withhold payment, cancel the transaction or suspend the seller's account.
Seller Stores & Products
Q40.How do I create my Afrimart store and start listing products?
Once your seller application is approved, Afrimart will invite you to complete identity verification, after which you can create your store and begin uploading your products.
Q41.Can I sell handmade African products, or only manufactured goods?
Both. Afrimart welcomes handmade and manufactured African goods alike, from individual artisans through to established brands and manufacturers, subject to marketplace standards.
Q42.What happens if my product listing turns out to be inaccurate?
As a seller, you're responsible for providing accurate product descriptions, photographs and specifications, and for disclosing any relevant defects or limitations.
A materially inaccurate listing can result in the product qualifying for a buyer remedy (see Returns, Refunds & Exchanges), and repeated or serious inaccuracies may be treated the same way as other marketplace-rule violations.
Accounts, Privacy & Security
Q43.How do I reset my Afrimart password?
Select "Forgot Password" on the sign-in page and follow the instructions sent to your registered email address or phone number.
Never share your password or verification code with anyone else.
Q44.How can I keep my Afrimart account secure?
- Use a strong, unique password.
- Keep your contact information up to date.
- Avoid clicking suspicious links.
- Never share your password, PIN or one-time password with anyone.
Report any suspected unauthorised activity on your account immediately.
Q45.How does Afrimart handle my personal information?
Afrimart processes your personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection laws.
Your information may be shared with sellers, couriers, payment providers and service partners, but only where reasonably necessary to process your transactions and provide marketplace services.
Disputes & Support
Q46.What happens if a buyer and seller disagree about an order?
Buyers and sellers should first try to resolve the issue directly through Afrimart's platform.
If the matter remains unresolved, it can be escalated to Afrimart for review. Afrimart may consider the listing, communications, photographs, videos, payment records and courier information before making a platform-level determination.
